Sometimes, you are just going about life when the unthinkable happens.  For me, it happened in 2004 while I was working as a textile designer and raising two young children. Little did I know that my childhood exposure to the Ukraine’s Chernobyl nuclear disaster would alter the course of my adult life and lead to a diagnosis of Thyroid cancer.

I soon learned the critical role the Thyroid plays in our bodies as I struggled with symptoms including digestive issues, weight gain, joint and muscle pain, headaches and more.

Like most people, I first turned to traditional medicine, and while I was very

grateful for all it had to offer, I was left with unpleasant lingering side effects and unanswered questions.

I came to realize that targeting my symptoms didn’t address the root cause of my condition. To do so, I needed to take on a whole-istic

approach, one that honored my whole body, mind, and spirit.

Like many people, I felt bombarded by conflicting information about food from TV, magazines and books. What should I believe? What would make a difference?

The journey to heal myself took me through several professional holistic schools, such as the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, Functional Medicine Health Coaching Academy, and the Dahn Yoga Healer's School. The wealth of knowledge and insight I had gained over the years, has inspired me to keep passing on what I've learned to equip people to help themselves.

For over a decade, I've been helping people find the right foods for their bodies, transform/enhance their relationship with food and make the right nutritional and lifestyle changes to feel their best.

My practice is based on the philosophy of “Bio-Individuality.”  I use a very personalized approach to nutrition and stress management to help one reach their goals and realize a renewed sense of well-being.

I work with many people who have thyroid trouble, and don’t even know it. Sadly, thyroid conditions are among the most under-diagnosed and untreated. Each day, I meet people who have difficulty losing weight, problems with sleep, as well as disturbing symptoms like constipation, anemia, headaches, anxiety and depression. They long to take control of their health, increase their energy, and have a better relationship with food — and ultimately — themselves.

I also work with people who fear they may get a disease because it runs in their family. While we can’t change our genetics or our ages, we can change the way our genes express themselves, and we can fuel our bodies in ways that give us the energy we need to heal and lead fulfilling lives.

I know from my own personal journey that making those changes can be challenging and somewhat disorienting. I also know how essential and transforming it is to have a professional there with you; to guide and support you when feel like you're losing steam.

I've been there before myself and I know how discouraging it can get doing it alone; which is why I'll be here with you every step of the way.

I often liken healing to gardening. You start by cultivating the soil and planting the seeds; you gradually provide water, sunlight, and encouragement; and ultimately, something beautiful will grow.

It takes time, patience, and awareness, but together we can make it an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Credentials

I received my training to practice nutritional counseling from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, in affiliation with Purchase College, SUNY. I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.

I am a certified Functional Medicine Health Coach from The Functional Medicine Coaching Academy in collaboration with The Institute for Functional Medicine. Functional Medicine addresses the underlying causes of illness, using a personalized, systems-oriented approach. It focuses on people’s specific needs, genetics and history, rather than disease and diagnosis. It utilizes the least expensive and least invasive methods of treatment first. It’s about restoring the body’s natural healing power. To learn more about the science of Functional Medicine, please visit their website: https://ifm.org

I am board certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I am also certified by the Tao Energy Healer School (a professional training program that incorporates a variety of disease prevention and disease management therapies, including stress management strategies, massage therapy, acupressure, Yoga, and meditation).
